Driving is a something that should always be checked in the elderly. The elderly should take driving tests periodically, so that they know and are aware of their existing capabilities for driving.
The elderly person should also be aware that their vision is probably falling and coordination is becoming wonky, in which case it’s best to give it up.
Most elderly people stay at home. Hence it is important to understand that though they might be very self-sufficient and manage everything own their own, it is important to provide some sort of help to assist them with medicines and daily chores.

Family members may find that it is not possible to real the person alone as they age. If it is possible that the person will fall or is unable to perform their own toilet needs or if they have problems with day-to-day activities or if their mental competence has lessened to where it is not safe for them to be alone, family members may have a difficult decision as to whether to move them a facility that offers assisted living or even a nursing home.
