As with everything else in the world, there are disadvantages of a vaccination as well. However, it is advisable to have an advanced knowledge of the associated side effects and the consequences of having the disease in the long run. It’s important to know both sides of the story before reaching any decision.

Most of the times, parents do not have a choice as the schools and the employers make immunization mandatory and stress upon up to date immunization schedules.

Recently, many books and publications have stated the reactions and side effects of immunization. However, there is no concrete evidence that shows that people were immunized and then exposed to reflect the usefulness of the vaccine. This testing is not allowed on humans since human testing laws do not allow humans to be used as guinea pigs.

Groups like the VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System) have reported 11,000 adverse reactions each year including 100 to 200 deaths and at least twice that number of permanent disabilities. These groups are crusading against vaccination.

Parents and professionals are in two minds as far as vaccinating is concerned. All in all it is important to weigh the pros and cons and then makes decision. After all it involves our children!
